FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Kuhlman Cellars Awarded Two Gold and Three Silver Medals by Concours International de Lyon Wine Competition
Only nine medals were awarded to US wineries.

Stonewall, Texas – May 29, 2020 – Kuhlman Cellars is thrilled to share five of their wines won medals at the renowned wine competition Concours de Lyon. Kuhlman Cellars’ 2018 Estate Kuhlmanation White and 2018 Texas High Plains Viognier both won gold medals and the 2016 Reserve Merlot, 2017 Marl, and 2017 Texas High Plains (Newsom Vineyards) Sangiovese won silver.
“It seems we are going full circle: from a small appellation of Condrieu that made Viognier, a wild variety from France, famous all around the world, to Bingham Family Vineyards, a pioneer in the High Plains of Texas who planted Viognier in the millennium to the 2020 Concours International de Lyon competition,” says Kuhlman Cellars Winemaker Bénédicte Rhyne. “In 2018 the stars aligned with a beautiful growing season, allowing us to harvest this finicky variety at prime maturity, high Brix of 26. Our cellar crew then carefully handled the grapes to produce this magnificent vintage. What and honor to be recognized by our peers, the French sommeliers and winemakers from Lyon who know best what a great Viognier should taste like.”
This year the Concours de Lyon judges tasted over six thousand samples, awarding only nine medals to United States wineries. “This is very exciting for us,” enthuses Kuhlman Cellars co-founder Chris Cobb. “Many of our grapes are French in origin. To win gold with Texas wines in the grapes’ ancestral homeland is an honor.”
The Estate Kuhlmanation White is a blend of Marsanne and Roussanne, grown on the estate in Stonewall, Texas.  These vines were planted in 2015 and the 2018 is only the second vintage released. Vineyard Manager Diane Cobb says, “We put a lot of love in the care of the vineyard with exacting labor and attention to detail to ensure we grow the best possible fruit.  It’s amazing to receive such recognition from professionals who’ve grown these grapes for generations.”
Only seven cases remain of Kuhlman Cellars’ award-winning 2018 Viognier. Insulated shipping is included with online purchases over $89. Kuhlman Cellars is offering a variety of virtual wine tasting events, complimentary with wine bundle purchases. For more information, visit kuhlmancellars.com.

Runaway Bay, Texas – May 22, 2020 – RB Golf Club & Resort hosted a golf cart parade to celebrate local graduating seniors. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Kuhlman Cellars Releases 2019 Estate Wines & Hensell Rosé
The three new wines were first released to the Vina Vita Wine Club in April.

Best Texas Wines

Stonewall, Texas – May 18, 2020 – Kuhlman Cellars is pleased to release three 2019 wines to the public: the 2019 Estate Roussanne, the 2019 Estate Rosé, and the 2019 Hensell. The wines were first released to the Vina Vita Wine Club in April. A limited number of cases remain of the stunning 2019 Estate Roussanne, which is explained from vine to glass in a video produced by the Kuhlman Cellars team seen here.

The newly released wines are:

  •   2019 Estate Roussanne – ($34) The third harvest of the Kuhlman Cellars estate Roussanne has a white gold color and intense nose of jasmine, honeysuckle, orange blossom, pear, and lemon zest. Big, bold tropical fruit flavors of lychee and green mango characterize this exquisite wine. The well balanced and lingering acidity makes the 2019 Estate Roussanne a perfect pairing with ceviche, tapenade, and tapas. The estate Roussanne only produced 140 cases and isn’t expected to last long past its Vina Vita debut. Buy it here.
  •   2019 Estate Rosé – ($29) This delicate rosé is made from estate Carignan and Mourvédre. The strawberry-hued wine tastes like crushed strawberries with a scent of wild violet and summer strawberries. This light and refreshing rosé is perfect with tabbouleh or any picnic food on a hot summer day. Buy it here.
  •   2019 Hensell Rosé – ($27) Fans of the 2017 Hensell will be ecstatic to taste the 2019 harvest. This release is lighter in color than a classic Provencal-style rosé. Delicate in the nose with hibiscus, pink apple, and lavender aromas, this rosé is powerful on the palate with perfectly balanced acidity. Buy it here.

Shipping is included with online purchases over $75. Kuhlman Cellars is offering a variety of virtual wine tasting events, complimentary with wine bundle purchases. For more information, visit kuhlmancellars.com.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Kuhlman Cellars to Host Virtual Sense of Taste Wine Tasting Event
The four-bottle Sense of Taste bundle includes a complimentary invitation to the interactive webinar.

Virtual Wine Tasting

Stonewall, Texas – May 4, 2020 – Kuhlman Cellars is offering a new Sense of Taste four-bottle wine bundle for $122.00 (shipping included), which includes a complimentary hour-long virtual wine tasting event. The tasting webinar explores guests’ individual sense of taste, showcasing how common household foods (available even during quarantine) affect the taste of wines. During the webinar, participants will map their favorite food and wine pairings so  they  are empowered to go out and try new combinations with confidence.

The Sense of Taste bundle includes:

·   2018 Calcaria – Kuhlman Cellars’ signature white blend is defined by its crispy, bright acidity. A blend of Trebbiano, Roussanne, and Viognier, this wine is fantastic on its own or with salty snacks. Aromas of wet stone and sand awaken the senses and set the stage for this wine’s silky mouthfeel. The beautiful, long finish is characterized by notes of Meyer lemon, jasmine, and stone fruit.

·   2018 Viognier – Perfumed notes of honeysuckle and orange blossom grace the bouquet while nectarine, apricot, and guava balance the palate. With a rich and velvety mouthfeel, only 180 cases were produced of this limited release wine. With bright acidity and a full body, this is a white that will hold up to heavier fare such as pork, poultry, and even lean steaks.

·   2017 Marl – The clay terroir gives this wine energetic plum and cassis aromas. Graphite and lingering tannins promise a potential for aging but can be enjoyed now with tenderloin meats.

·   2016 KanKar – This Dry Creek Valley blend is 54% Malbec and 46% Petite Sirah. This beautiful wine has violet, cacao, mint, and vanilla aromas. The chalky tannins will make fatty dishes melt.

Those who purchase this bundle will receive a complimentary invitation to one of Kuhlman Cellars’ live, interactive tasting webinar during which the Kuhlman Cellars team will lead the Sense of Taste “class.” Each class lasts about an hour and includes ideas for more ways to sharpen your wine senses at home. To purchase the bundle, click here. Watch Kuhlman Cellars Sommelier Brandi Pratt  introduce the class here.
