FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Vintage Tex Now Part of Retro Plaza
The vintage clothing store’s mini Bedford boutique is inside The Vintage Freak.

Grapevine, Texas – August 23, 2017 – Vintage Tex today announces an expansion: the Grapevine clothing store has opened a mini boutique in the Bedford shopping center known as Retro Plaza. Vintage Tex is the fifth vintage specialty shop to be part of Retro Plaza located at 1424 Brown Trl, Bedford, TX. “I love the variety of vintage goodies available at Retro Plaza,” says Jen Cooper, the owner of Vintage Tex, “but I love the ‘vintage’ way they do business even more – five little mom and pop shops, all helping each other out, to serve a really unique customer base. It’s almost like a 1960s-style co-op.” The five Retro Plaza businesses are:

  • The Vintage Freak– record shop that sells and repairs vintage audio equipment and mid-century modern furniture
  • Vintage Tex– vintage clothing and accessories from the 1940s to 1970s
  • Bombshell Nostalgia– strange, rare, and interesting oddities, militaria, taxidermy, and antiques
  • Retro Madness– vintage toys, action figures, comics, collectibles, and retro gaming systems such as Atari and Nintendo
  • Quarter Lounge– a retro arcade specializing in the best games from the 1980s and 1990s such as Ms. Pacman, Street Fighter, Super Mario Bros, Donkey Kong, and more

“I was so excited when Taylor Watts, the owner of The Vintage Freak, called and asked if we would be interested in taking over their clothing area,” says Cooper. Prior to opening the new mini boutique, Vintage Tex cleared out the formerly cluttered clothing room, painted the space their signature grey with a pop of coral, installed sophisticated black track lighting, and added a dressing room. Vintage Tex recently renovated their Grapevine flagship store with the same color scheme.

Vintage Tex is carrying a small selection of clothing and accessories made between the 1940s and the 1970s inside The Vintage Freak in Retro Plaza. The Vintage Freak is open from 12pm-6pm Monday-Friday & Sunday, and 12pm-9pm on Saturday. The same attention to quality will be met at the new boutique as in the original Vintage Tex store in Grapevine; all items are examined for flaws, repaired and cleaned when possible, and then sized to the modern size and steamed to make shopping easier.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Vintage Tex Spring Collection is on Trend
Four fashion week trends are apparent in the vintage collection.

Vintage Tex Spring Clothes

Grapevine, Texas – March 10, 2017 – Vintage Tex today announces that the store is now carrying their spring collection at their historic downtown Grapevine location (603 S Main St, Ste 300, Grapevine, TX 76051). Owner Jen Cooper collected most of the vintage finds ranging from the 1920s-1970s in Houston. The 2017 Spring Collection includes updated floral prints, every shade of pink, new takes on pastels, and statement patterns.

“What’s interesting about fashion trends is that past styles always come back around, making vintage remarkably trendy,” says Cooper. “We were pleased to see 1960s-style patterns all over the spring fashion week runways and are proud to offer on-trend styles to our customers.” The spring trends available in the 2017 Spring Collection at Vintage Tex are as follows:

  1. Updated floral prints
    1. different from typical springtime florals
    2. less dainty, more psychedelic (heavily 60s influenced)
    3. larger scale, bolder prints
    4. Vintage Tex Spring Clothes
  2. The color pink
    1. all shades, from pastel to rosy blush tones to bright bubblegum
    2. biggest trending color this season
    3. Vintage Tex Spring Clothes
  3. New take on pastels
    1. different from typical springtime pastels (light pink, baby blue)
    2. less “sweet,” more muted versions of “out there” colors (such as chartreuse)
    3. Vintage Tex Spring Clothes
  4. Statement Patterns + Colors
    1. geometric patterns, stripes, polka dots, graphic prints, all very popular this season
    2. on the flip side of pastels, bold pops of color are also popular – see Pantone’s Spring 2017 Color Report
    3. lots of 60s influence, mod, color blocking, 60s style is giving the 70s trend of seasons’ past a run for its money
    4. Vintage Tex Spring Clothes

The items range in price from $18 – $78. The shop is open daily from 11 am – 6 pm. Most of the clothing and accessories found at Vintage Tex are from somewhere in the state of Texas.
